Letter from the Principal

Mansfield Middle School is entering another school year with great anticipation of academic excellence for all students.  As with any academic institution, there are adjustments that are necessary for the promotion of excellence.  There are also challenges to overcome with respects to student achievement.  Our administrative and instructional staff is committed to the academic success of all of our students.

The Mansfield Middle School faculty and staff will continue to implement and sustain academic programs that will produce the highest quality instruction possible.  We pledge to continue to help students “Reach High Academic Standards through Personal Excellence”.

Our goal this year is to effectively implement year two of the Teacher Advancement Program or TAP.  TAP offers multiple levels of opportunity for teachers to advance professionally through job-embedded professional development. This year, administration, master, mentor, and career teachers will work collaboratively to ensure strict fidelity to the TAP model.

As always, we will couple the instructional system with a high quality behavioral system (PBIS).  We will offer student services through dedicated and effective professionals who understand the need to provide solutions that eliminate extraneous factors influencing low student achievement.  Also, each grade level will represent a “House” at MMS.   The House will function as an academic, attendance, behavioral, and core curriculum support to students in their respective grade levels.

Finally, our commitment to our community still remains our focus.  It is imperative that the school and community work in cooperation to provide a safe and highly rigorous academic environment for our future citizens.  I am honored to serve as principal of Mansfield Middle School.  Please call or come by with any questions you may have about our school year.

WIN-Whatever I Need

A daily block of academic time built into the master schedule. It is a multi-level instructional system which has three tier levels of instruction. Tier I - allows students to have an opportunity to build on their grade level success through accelerated and enriched programs. Tier 2 - students grouped by specific skill deficit and will be targeted to receive supplemental instruction in those skills. Tier 3 - students will be provided specific, targeted, intensive intervention in small group settings. This WIN Time will allow instructional opportunities that will best serve the academic needs of all students.
